History of The Landing Party

The idea for the club was conceived in 1994 by the University of Paisley students, Elaine Morris, Claire Anderson and Robert Gillespie.

The basic idea for the club was to set up a Star Trek fan club within the university, run by students for students.

Starting up in October 1995, the club set out to support local charities by holding a Science Fiction convention once a year. Till now, the club has had a reasonable success rate.

The club still has a number of members, now no longer students, who signed up in 1995.

Our first honorary member, Mr. John De Lancie, was approached by Elaine and Claire, the founding members.

In 1998, the club shifted it's focus to embrace other Science Fiction shows such as the popular 'X-Files' and 'Babylon 5'. We also welcomed our first convention guest, Mr. Micheal Sheard who returned the following year.

The club has established a number of links with other Science Fiction groups such as The U.S.S. Valiant and hope to get more links in our future.

Listed below are the people who have been elected as head of the club:

Each has given exemplary service to the club.
